I thought twice about doing another beauty review as it’s not my main passion within my writing but I had to share today’s little gem finds…
It’s no secret that Primark is completely hit or miss; you either love the product or you truly hate it. I’ve used their makeup brushes before and I always found the foundation/blending brushes were much better than the eyeshadow brushes – they just didn’t seem to pick up enough product where as the blending brushes did do the job quite well.
I decided to purchase ‘The Ultimate Brush Set’ in marble for £7 and the ‘2 pk silicone sponge’ for £2 today after I found a dead fly on my blusher blush LOL. Yeah, wtf.
Inside The Ultimate Brush Set you get:
1 x angled eyebrow brush
1 x eyeshadow brush
1 x concealer brush
1 x stippling brush
1 x powder brush
1 x insta girl makeup pouch
Firstly these brushes look gorgeous. Primark is really stepping up with their aesthetics.
The first thing I noticed was the angled eyebrow brush was verrrry angled and stiff, and girl, that is what I want. We haven’t got time for thick uneven lines around here. The powder brush is a good size and although soft, is dense enough to hold enough product to get a good sweep of the cheeks. This is the same as the stippling brush; bristles are very soft but the cut of the brush makes it perfect for blending in that contour and concealer. I haven’t actually tried the eyeshadow and concealer brush yet but as the concealer brush is so small this is probably best used for specific target areas such as spots or creases under the eye. As I mentioned I wasn’t really a fan of their shadow brushes before so I am interested to find out the fate of this one.
The Insta girl pouch didn’t include its measurements but is a perfect size for those extra makeup bits you’d like to take in your bag once in a while, or similarly to hold your brushes in if you don’t have a stand. I will probably use it as a backup case for when I need to take more than my ‘everyday’ makeup with me (uno, for all those dates I go on perhaps..)
I was a bit sceptical to use the silicone sponges as I just envisioned all my foundation sliding across my face but I was pleasantly surprised. As this product does not soak up any of your makeup you really do only need to use 1/3 of your usual amount. I used gradual dabs to smear my concealer under my eyes and once set I lightly buffed it with the stippling brush. This was a great combo and really helped minimise the darker circles under my eyes.
The best thing about this product is the hygiene: one gentle soak under the tap and they’re good as new. Highly recommend.
Despite playing around with filters while bored on the train, here is how my face looked after 4 or so hours (eyebrows are a bit shoddy but it’s only Monday).
So yeah whistle stop tour of these two products but if you’d like more information please leave a comment. For £9 I highly recommend buying both products to brighten up your makeup stand x
