The Glow Pot: Acai & Goji Berry 2 in 1 Scrub Review

Hey. What’s up. Hello.

If you’re a frequent reader of my blog you’ll know that I don’t review many products too tough; it just isn’t an area that I dedicate much time to, however, I do like to write about the little things I come across that ought to be shared.

I came across The Glow Pot brand on Twitter. Women I followed were promoting and discussing it and usually I don’t pay much attention however for some reason or another it caught my eye. I think perhaps because I was inspired that women were working hard and showcasing a range they had worked really hard on and lord knows starting up a business is tough. Another reason being that as we get older, investing time and money into our skincare routine is absolutely essential. Long gone are the days where your mum could pick up any old facewash from Superdrug and pray it didn’t burn your skin off.

Anyway; because I care about my skin more than I ever have before and feel it is important to not go Superdrug and buy any old face wash that might burn my skin off, I decided to keep a watchful eye on this brand and what the buzz seemed to be moving forwards. All I saw was positive reviews, excited customers, heartwarming support and a group of grown women celebrating one another’s skin progress. I thought yeah, ok, let’s have a look.

At the time of browsing, there were only around 5/6 products for purchase which was almost disappointing (I don’t know, I think I was expecting a mass range for some reason), with a few skincare sets having sold out already. I already use black soap and vitamin E oil and I didn’t want to confuse things too much so I looked for something I could use once/twice a week instead.

Welcome, Acai & Goji Berry 2 in 1 microdermabrasion scrub & mask.

The glow pot

“Infused with acai and goji berry, this scrub is rich in antioxidants and so is effective in reducing the signs of ageing and is great for hyper-pigmentation as it slows down the damage caused by free radicals. The natural formula gently removes dead skin cells and the skin’s excess natural oils are absorbed, leaving pores clear and inhibiting the formation of acne.

The scrub will instantly give the skin a natural healthy glow.”

For £12.50 I thought this wasn’t bad seeing as I wouldn’t be using it every day. The postage was £3.99 which initially I was like ‘meh’ about as that made the total jump up a fair bit but it came the very next day so I really can’t be mad. With its anti-ageing properties, I was excited to give it a go as recently I’ve felt like 1 2 wrinkles have been popping up around my eyes (I’m 28…it’s sad). Anything anti-ageing is a good sign, right?

Firstly, it smells delicious. I can’t lie I’d never even heard of Acai and Goji Berry but I could sit and smell it all day. Massaging into my skin during a shower I really made an effort to ensure I had given my face a good scrub and the exfoliating texture left it feeling incredibly soft and smooth. I liked that it was quite light in my hands as sometimes you feel like you’re layering cement into your skin with these types of scrubs and it all gets a bit long trying to lather it in. When I came out of the shower (around Midday) I looked in the mirror and my face genuinely looked brighter, firmer and clean. This gassed me into not putting any makeup on. I didn’t feel like I needed it.

The only thing that is missing is guidance on how often to use the scrub. I’ve kind of just assumed it’s 1/2 time a week thing, however, I could be completely wrong therefore some suggestion of usage would be beneficial.
All it says on the site is “Apply a small amount of scrub to wet skin. Gently massage in and rinse off with warm water.”

I’ve only used this twice, however, I highly recommend giving it a go purely based on how refreshing and glowing my skin looked and felt after using it. With natural ingredients, I am hopeful it will not have any impact on my skin in relation to spots (pretty much everything gives me spots).

The packaging is also mega cute and neat which is always a bonus. As a 100ml tub, I think this will last me quite a while.

I did take my own pictures however the websites own photo does it justice and there were absolutely no hidden surprises that came with this product. Simply a clean, beautiful smelling scrub, gifted and sent in a timely manner from some wonderful people. If you’re looking to add to your skincare collection and feel a deep scrub/mask is all you need then this product is definitely for you.
